Gaurav Gupta started out with his label in 2004 and has produced wonderful couture pieces from then onwards. A few words to describe his creations would be, architectural, avant-garde, futuristic and neoteric. He is known to incorporate elements of architecture within his couture pieces.

His brand new Spring/Summer 2021 couture collection called “The Celestial Sunset” takes inspiration from greek mythology as well as from the concept of dusk and dawn, the never ending circle of life. These concepts come through beautifully in the forms of avant-garde couture pieces that we are all so proud to call Indian.

The enchanting story of Hesperides and the mystical sunset for this specific collection seems to be more captivating and takes us to a world of imagination. Couture is envisaged as pieces of wearable art engineered with surreal designs and harmonized with a modern aesthetic. It all seems extremely thoughtful and the inspiration reflects well in the pieces as well as the campaign.

The designs are surely cutting edge but wearable at the same time, all the designs are ones that will get head-turning. The lines in these couture gowns create a certain sense of flow and movement in spite of the stiff fabrics, a technique that Gaurav Gupta seems to have nailed. The campaigns also do justice to the collection, shot beautifully in an arid forest very intelligently juxtaposed against the couture gowns.

The futuristic wire-held ruffles are prominent throughout the whole collection, the colour palette included sunset yellow, lilac pink, twilight soft berry, dawn blue and aurora pink in a variety of ways with fabrics such as silk, crepe and organza. Some of the silhouettes included are high-octane sequin cocktail dresses, gossamer mermaid gowns, new-concept lehengas, saree gowns and more.

Let’s closely observe and appreciate some pieces from “The Celestial Sunset” and lose ourselves to this world of beauty.

A stunning plum-pink monochrome number from the collection with an asymmetric neckline and futuristic ruffles is being bookmarked on our couture wedding inspiration board! The fabric manipulation technique almost makes it look like a budding pink hibiscus flower. Who wouldn’t want to feel like a flower?

This voluminous maxi gown has left us mesmerized. The all-around trail will help you add #DRAMA and put you on the best-dressed list during the evening.

The pale orange gowns and lehengas were the three very striking pieces that stole all hearts. Here is proof that each piece is built with thought and experimentation that is reflected through the designs that are demonstrated in the collection so strongly.

Another great number that displays the construction of the gowns very beautifully, the sheer fabric paired with the strategic gathers look unreal and so very dreamy. This is what all couture should aspire to be!

Stealing the limelight is the straight-fit maxi gown that is so uniquely draped, the futuristic ruffles all lay on a single side creating a rather tranquil movement matching with the vibe of the surroundings.
