When the Supreme Court of India passed its landmark verdict regarding Section 377, the party took place on the runway with 40 designers coming together to celebrate for the grand finale of Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week spring/summer ‘19. The joyous parade began with couturier Gaurav Gupta specially flying down transgender model, Anjali Lama, to open the show in a sculptural gown illuminated with LED lights in every colour of the rainbow. “Every show I’ve walked for is special, but my favourite is when I opened for Gaurav Gupta at the Rainbow Fashion Show soon after section 377 was repealed to celebrate LGBTQ people. This one was especially memorable because I wasn’t walking just for me; it was a victory for my entire community,” Lama added.
