Celebrating the 15th year milestone of the brand, merging indigenous Indian construction and embellishing techniques with his idea of the future, Gaurav Gupta emerges as a leading beacon of dramatic, cultural shift in the way the modern Indian bride and groom wear couture. With obsessive attention to detail, Gaurav unveiled his latest couture collection ‘Undercurrent’ at the India Couture Week 2019, for which, Gaurav drew inspiration from the fierce waves of the dynamic ocean that flow in a rhythmic, electric concentricity.
The Undercurrent collection adds a renewed avant-garde lens defining sculpting as a science of new couture. Gaurav creates exaggerated waves and theatrical drapes in his garments bringing a sartorial and paradigm shift in the way we view couture and directly talks to its audience who believes in liberation, individuality, fun and excitement. The atelier’s gravity-defying-pattern making is engineered with anatomical placement of glass embroidery – instilling a feeling of movement and depth of layers, fantasy and dimension. The outfits are perfectly moulded to flatter and fit the body well in degrade shades of violet and lava red.
