JYOTIRGAMAYA Couture Autumn Winter 2024
“Jyotirgamaya”, a Sanskrit term resonant with the spiritual journey from darkness to light, serves as the guiding muse for this collection. Rooted deeply in Vedic philosophy and influenced by Egyptian mysticism, this phenomenon embodies the transformation from unawareness to enlightenment. The collection itself is a narrative woven with threads of futurism and surrealism, where each piece mirrors this transcendent journey.
The collection unveils the colors from darkness to light. Moonstone Ivory embodies celestial light. Sand represents light and reflection. Bordeaux, a new addition, embodies richness and depth, akin to the unfolding layers of enlightenment. Black represents the abyss from which illumination emerges. Metallic hues reflect the transcendence into a realm of radiance. Monochrome signifies the harmony found in the union of contrasts. Each shade resonates with the journey from shadow to inner light.
The collection seamlessly blends tradition and innovation, showcasing corsetry, draping, and sculpting techniques. Cropped metal breastplate jackets, saree gowns,
exaggerated mini dresses, and newer forms of trousers, including our version of Sharara trousers, come together in this season. The ancient Aari embroidery technique, with its infinity loops and hooked needle, often incorporates Zari Zardosi embroidery, using metallic threads to add shine to the finished piece. The couturier’s signature sculpting art meanders throughout the collection.
The journey translates into a new realm with the introduction of artisanal jewelry. Crafted in antique gold and silver, the Chakra ear cuff, the Infinity ear cuff, and the
Gaja ear cuff come together to complete the collection. The Mudra ear cuff, the Bahu Mudra ear cuff and the Chakra Choker, designed all in brass, showcase couturier’s
exceptional craftsmanship
